Thinking globally is seeing how the whole world is strongly affected by this issue of police brutality. I believe acting locally is going to marches and speaking out in your community so they’ll be aware of this issue. Many activist have tried to make a big change on this issue. in 1971 in NY there was a riot during the Prisoner Rights Movement. There have been many to speak and take action on this issue. There has been many blogs, books, marches, protests, riots, and hunger strikes. I personally see the seriousness when prisoners finish their jail time and are able to spread the word of what they’ve been through. There was this man that explained he was in solitary confinement for 37 months. The guards would not allow them to make no sort of noise. If the guards would hear a simple moan of discomfort, they would rush in and beat the inmate. Before being placed in there they would be stripped naked. They had no sort of bed or even toilet. The floor was their bed as well as their toilet. They had no type of humane treatment when in prison. There has been many ex inmates to write letters of everything they went through, and everything they saw happen to others. So I ask myself if this is such a huge national issue why is there no change occurring? -Yasmeen S.
