Police brutality is a subject that can not only be seen in some communities or states. This is an issue far more bigger that expands all over the world. Many police officers all over the globe take advantage of their governmental position to abuse and brutally beat people when they choose too. There are cases after cases of how Police officers take advantage of the power that was instituted on them because of the way that they judge criminals and whether or not they need to use excessive force or not. One piece of evidence that really shows how this is really an issue that affects the world is an article named “Criminal Justice Degrees Guide” (http://www.criminaljusticedegreesguide.com/features/10-worst-cases-of-police-brutality-in-history.html). It talks about ten of the most brutal ways in which people have been treated by police officers because of their ethnic background or the situation in which they are put in. Sometimes it is as simple as people whom are at the wrong place at the wrong time that receive these awful dehumanizing beat downs One of the many cases that exist is a man in South Africa, Steve Biko, whom was an activist and really tried to push black empowerment. For this cause he was arrested and charged with terrorism. After Steve was arrested he was interrogated for 22 brutal hours that included beatings, and tortuous acts. If this isn’t police brutality then i really don’t know what is. These are things that not only happen in the U.S. and in South Africa, this is happening all over the globe.
I believe that my issue will not be solved on a global level. I do fully believe that globally we should have harsher consequences on officers abusing their power. Police officers know that the majority of the time they are able to get away with it regardless if they have evidence against them. This i believe is the part of this issue that contributes the most to it being so large and common. This is a global issues because any authority that is over us like cops and they say we are lying or wrong they are automatically right no matter what evidence we have against them. I think what makes global issues so difficult to solve is the fact that some people may think that prisoners may deserve to be treated inhumane. They may believe what happens in their is in their fate. Some may even say that is just part of their consequence of their actions.
