There is a law all officers have to follow called the use of force continuum. It states that “The level of force may still be seen as excessive to bystanders even though it is not.” This means we may see it very excessive and unnecessary force against them. Many may say the officer might have felt threatened or in a dangerous situation. So they may have used their force as a form of self defense against the criminal. Even though this is a way in which police officers might be able to avoid prosecution, they should still be judged fairly and like any other person. Just because they belong to police departments does not give them the right to get off these cases of excessive force
